Laura Terrell is an Emmy award-winning Weekend Anchor and Reporter for KCCI 8 News.

Her reporting has also been recognized with a National Edward R. Murrow award and several Iowa Broadcast News Association awards.

She started at KCCI in September 2010. In April 2012, Laura's live reports from the tornado damage in Creston contributed to the KCCI weekend team's Emmy Award win for Best Weekend Newscast. She arrived in Creston shortly after the Greater Regional Medical Center took a direct hit from a tornado, and reported throughout the night and into the morning.

Laura realizes that telling stories is more than just getting the facts right, it's also about reporting with sensitivity and compassion. Her favorite part of the job is meeting Iowans at their most vulnerable moments. She is constantly amazed by their resilience, strength and kindness, even in the most tragic circumstances.

Laura quickly adjusted to life in Des Moines because she is a Midwestern girl at heart. Born and raised in St. Louis, she continues to cheer for her beloved Cardinals! Laura graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in business. Go Mizzou Tigers!

While she's not working Laura enjoys traveling and eating good food with her husband Shawn. She also makes frequent trips to St. Louis to visit her family including her beloved Grandpa Ray.
