INVESTIGATORS SAY STARTING RUNNING BACK JIREHL BROCK AND DEFENSIVE TACKLE ISAIAH LEE PLACED BETS ON IOWA STATE GAMES. THEY PLAYED IN THE DOCUMENTS, SAY LEE BET, THE MONEY LINE ON THE 2021 TEXAS IOWA STATE GAME FOR TEXAS AND AGAINST IOWA STATE. AT THE IOWA STATE PRESS CONFERENCE YESTERDAY, CAMPBELL TOLD HIS JIREHL WAS STILL NOT PRACTICED. WE NOW KNOW THE REASON. IOWA PLAYERS ARLAND BRUCE REGGIE BRACEY VALLEY GRADUATE JACK JOHNSON AND MANAGER OWEN O’BRIEN WERE CHARGED THURSDAY. THE CRIMINAL COMPLAINT SAYS HAWKEYES RECEIVER ARLAND BRUCE BET ON 12 OF THE GAMES HE PLAYED IN THROUGH TWO YEARS AT IOWA. Updated list of Iowa, Iowa State student-athletes charged in sports wagering investigation
A growing list of current and former student-athletes in the state of Iowa have been charged in connection to an investigation into illegal sports wagering.Seven more student-athletes — four from Iowa State, three from Iowa — were charged in the latest round of allegations Thursday, Aug. 10, putting the total number of student-athletes between the two schools facing charges at 14.This list will be updated if more charges are filed.All Iowa, Iowa State student-athletes charged in sports gambling investigationHunter Dekkers, Iowa State football: The Cyclones' starting quarterback is accused of placing approximately 366 wagers, including 297 of which were placed before Dekkers turned 21. Approximately 26 bets were placed on Iowa State sporting events, including a wager on the 2021 Iowa State football game vs. Oklahoma State. Dekkers did not play in that game.ISU Athletics Director Jamie Pollard released the following statement on Aug. 2: "Iowa State cannot comment on any student-athletes’ circumstance or eligibility status. We will, however, continue to support our student-athletes as our compliance staff works with the NCAA to sort out questions surrounding their future eligibility for intercollegiate athletics competition." He did not participate in the Hawkeyes' game vs. Kentucky in which he is accused of betting the "under" total points.
