Iowa junior kicker Aaron Blom has been charged with tampering with records related to an illegal sports gambling investigation by the Iowa Criminal Division.According to a criminal complaint, Blom made 170 bets totaling more than $4,400 while he was under 21 – the legal age to gamble in Iowa – including eight bets on Hawkeyes sporting events. One of those bets allegedly was "under total points" in the 2021 Cy-Hawk game against Iowa State.Blom did not play in that game, which Iowa won 27-17.Court documents say the DraftKings Sportsbook account Blom used was registered in his mother's name but "utilized by her son to make sports wagers with her consent and knowledge."Blom, of Oskaloosa, redshirted in 2020 as a walk-on. He did not appear in any games in 2021. Last season he made one field goal in three attempts and made one extra point.Blom is one of two kickers currently on the Iowa roster – sophomore Drew Stevens, listed as the starting kicker after spring practice, is the other. Stevens, a South Carolina native, set a Hawkeyes freshman record last season with 16 made field goals.At least seven athletes with ties to the University of Iowa and Iowa State University have been charged in the investigation so far.
