Ophelie Jacobson
ReporterOphelie Jacobson is a reporter for KCCI 8 News. Ophelie was born in Massachusetts, lived in California for a while and eventually moved to Florida, where she graduated from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) with bachelor's degrees in journalism and political science.
This is her first time living in the Midwest so she's excited to give it a chance but admits to being a little scared about the winters.
At UF, Ophelie was very involved at the College of Journalism and Communications. She was an anchor, reporter and producer for both WUFT News and Noticias WUFT, the Spanish-language news team at UF. She covered everything from hurricane aftermath to the five-year commemoration of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas tragedy to local elections. Ophelie's work in college earned multiple state, regional and national awards, most notably a first place finish at the 2023 Hearst National Television Championship in San Francisco, California.
When she isn't reporting, Ophelie enjoys playing water polo, trying new restaurants, editing videos, playing pickleball, and staying involved in church. She also loves to travel and explore new places, both at home and abroad. She has dual citizenship in the United States and Belgium. Ophelie is fluent in Spanish and English, and she is working toward being fluent in French.
She is excited to tell the stories that matter most to Iowans. If you have a news tip, want to share tips on how to survive the cold, or just say hi, please don't be a stranger! You can email her at ophelie.jacobson@hearst.com or stay up-to-date with her on social media.
