Car damages popular coffee shop in Des Moines
Northern Vessel, a downtown coffee shop, was damaged after a car drove into the building on Saturday.
The owner told KCCI there were people inside the shop when the car hit. One person was taken to the hospital but returned to the shop a short time later.
Employees said they are glad the situation wasn't worse, and the owner said he is now working to reopen quickly.
"Everybody gets to go home today. And that’s really a blessing for everybody here. You really can’t ask for anything else," employee Michael Johnston said.
"There’s obviously a lot of damage, so we want to make sure that everything’s boarded up, cleaned up. And we’ll be open as soon as that’s done," owner TJ Rude said.
KCCI reached out to Des Moines police about the cause of the crash. And if the driver had any injuries. We have not heard back.
