A 6-year-old boy was killed in a crash Saturday morning near Guthrie Center.According to a report released by Iowa State Patrol, a driver was backing out of a residential driveway when the collision happened. Troopers say the child entered a blind spot in the right rear of the vehicle before being hit by the tire.Investigators say the driver performed lifesaving measures on the child until first responders arrived on the scene. The victim, who has not been identified, was later pronounced dead at the scene. According to the latest data from the Iowa Department of Transportation, 221 people have died so far this year on Iowa roads. That's 23 more than at the same point in 2022. Over the last five years, an average of 338 people have been killed in statewide crashes annually.
