AN EIGHT YEAR OLD IS IN THE HOSPITAL BATTLING SEVERE INJURIES AFTER A CRASH WITH A CARROLL COUNTY DEPUTY EARLY SATURDAY AFTERNOON ON THE IOWA STATE PATROL SAYS DEPUTY THOMAS FRANDSEN WAS PATROLLING THE EAST SIDE OF GLIDDEN AROUND 145 WHEN A CHILD ON A BIKE LEFT A DRIVEWAY AND CUT IN FRONT OF THE DEPUTY. An 8-year-old child is in the hospital recovering after getting hit by a deputy's truck in Glidden.According to Iowa State Patrol, the child was riding on a bicycle around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. The child traveled into the road from a driveway and was hit by Carroll County Deputy Thomas Fransen's truck.Fransen was unable to stop before hitting the child, according to troopers. The child was airlifted to a Des Moines hospital with "severe injuries."The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash.

An 8-year-old child is in the hospital recovering after getting hit by a deputy's truck in Glidden.
