AN EIGHT YEAR OLD IS IN THE HOSPITAL BATTLING SEVERE INJURIES AFTER A CRASH WITH A CARROLL COUNTY DEPUTY EARLY SATURDAY AFTERNOON ON THE IOWA STATE PATROL SAYS DEPUTY THOMAS FRANDSEN WAS PATROLLING THE EAST SIDE OF GLIDDEN AROUND 145 WHEN A CHILD ON A BIKE LEFT A DRIVEWAY AND CUT IN FRONT OF THE DEPUTY. THE IOWA STATE PATROL SAYS THE DEPUTY WAS UNABLE TO STOP AND HIT THE CHILD. THE CHILD WAS FLOWN TO THE HOSPITAL. THE CRASH REMAIN

An 8-year-old child is in the hospital recovering after getting hit by a deputy's truck in Glidden.According to Iowa State Patrol, the child was riding on a bicycle around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. The child traveled into the road from a driveway and was hit by Carroll County Deputy Thomas Fransen's truck.Fransen was unable to stop before hitting the child, according to troopers. The child was airlifted to a Des Moines hospital with "severe injuries."The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash.
GLIDDEN, Iowa —
An 8-year-old child is in the hospital recovering after getting hit by a deputy's truck in Glidden.
