FRIDAY WAS A LITTLE HOTTER TODAY WAS PRETTY NICE. I THOUGHT. UPPER 80S FOR TEMPERATURES EARLY DOON OUT AT THE FAIRGROUNDS NOW WE’RE COOLING DOWN SLOWLY THROUGH THE MIDDLE 70S HERE IN THE DES MOINES METRO. THE HUMIDITY’S IT’S THERE BUT IT’S NOT BAD REALLY FOR AUGUST STANDARDS. WINDS ARE PRETTY LIGHT HERE. TOO LATE TONIGHT. NOW AS WE HEAD INTO TOMORROW, PROBABLY NOT GOING TO GET AWAY WITH A WHOLE DAY OF DRY WEATHER. THERE WILL BE SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS OUT AND ABOUT PROBABLY ACROSS THE STATE ON YOUR SUNDAY STORM POSSIBILITIES PROBABLY HOLD OFF UNTIL PROBABLY THE EVENING HOURS TOMORROW AND THEN WE’LL FOLLOW UP THE END OF THIS SYSTEM HERE THAT’S COMING OUR WAY ON MONDAY WITH SOME COOLER, WINDIER STILL POSSIBLY A LITTLE BIT WET WEATHER TO START EARLY NEXT WORKWEEK. THAT’S HOW WE’RE GOING TO KIND OF FINISH THE WEEKEND UP AND THEN WRAP THINGS UP AND GET INTO EARLY AT THE BEGINNING OF THE NEW WEEK COMING UP SOON. OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW HERE, MIDDLE OF THE WEEKEND, STILL PRETTY MUCH DRY AND CLEAR OUTSIDE. A COUPLE OF RAINDROPS THAT HAVE BEEN FALLING OUT TOWARDS THE MISSOURI RIVER VALLEY. ANOTHER COMPLEX OF SOME SHOWERS AND STORMS UP TOWARDS THE MIDDLE OF SOUTH DAKOTA. AND THEN THIS LITTLE SWATH OF SOME RAIN AND CLOUDS IN EASTERN MONTANA. ALL OF THAT WILL HEAD SOUTHEAST TOWARDS US HERE AS WE HEAD INTO TOMORROW. SO THAT FIRST COMPLEX OF STORMS IN SOUTH DAKOTA, THAT’LL SORT OF DIMMING FISH AS IT COMES TOWARDS US. AND THEN WE’LL WATCH THIS SECOND WAVE OF ENERGY COMING UP TOWARDS TOMORROW EVENING. THAT’S OUR STORM CHANCE AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT THAT WILL PUSH ACROSS THE STATE INTO YOUR SUNDAY NIGHT. AND THEN ONCE THIS WHOLE SYSTEM IS GONE, IS GONE. THEN THERE’S MONDAY. WE’RE ON THE BACK SIDE, BREEZY, CLOUDY AND A LITTLE BIT SHOWERY. STILL. THAT’S HOW THIS WHOLE THING IS ALL GOING TO EVOLVE. WE’LL SLOW DOWN NOW AND GO HOUR BY HOUR. FIRST OFF, TONIGHT, WE MENTIONED THE PERSEID METEOR SHOWER EARLIER ON THIS EVENING. NEXT FEW HOURS, YOU WANT TO GO OUT, TAKE AN HOUR AND LOOK IN THE DARKNESS, GET OUTSIDE OF TOWN AND LOOK FOR SOME METEORS. YOU STILL CAN, BUT NOT FOREVER, BECAUSE WE’LL HAVE SOME CLOUDS MOVING IN HERE, ESPECIALLY AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT AND THEN INTO TOMORROW MORNING. PROBABLY AROUND DAYBREAK. I THINK WE’LL START INCREASING THOSE CHANCES FOR SOME SHOWERS. AND IT WILL BE MAINLY JUST SHOWERS AS WE GO THROUGH THE DAY TOMORROW, I THINK. AND IT WON’T EVEN BE PROBABLY WET THE ENTIRE TIME. IF WE HAD TO PICK A TIME OF DAY WHERE YOU’RE MOST LIKELY TO GET SOME DRY HOURS, PROBABLY THE AFTERNOON AND SOME SHOWERS, ESPECIALLY IN THE MORNING, MAYBE A LITTLE BIT MORE SPORADIC RAINFALL AFTERNOON. AND THEN BY THE EVENING WE’LL BE WATCHING THAT BOUNDARY AND MENTION COME IN FROM THE WEST INTO WESTERN IOWA TOWARDS THAT FIVE, SIX, 7:00 TIMEFRAME. AND THEN THAT’LL PUSH EASTWARD INTO THE EVENING. SEVERE WEATHER NOT REALLY LIKELY. THERE MIGHT BE A COUPLE MORE ROBUST STORMS IF THEY HAPPEN, PROBABLY MOST LIKELY SOUTHWEST IOWA OR FAR NORTHWEST IOWA MAYBE COULD HAVE A COUPLE OF STRONGER CELLS. BUT THAT’S NOT LOOKING VERY WIDESPREAD. THEN SOME SHOWERS LINGER THROUGH THE REST OF TOMORROW NIGHT. BY THE TIME WE GET TO EARLY MONDAY. NOW, MOST OF THE SYSTEMS TO OUR EAST, WE’VE GOT SOME LINGERING CLOUDS BLOWING AROUND ON ITS BACKSIDE, SOME WINDS GUSTING ABOVE 30MPH ON MONDAY, COOLER TEMPERATURES IN THE 70S AND SOME SORT OF WRAPAROUND SHOWERS TO BEGIN NEXT WORKWEEK TONIGHT STILL WILL BE DRY CLOUDS INCREASING, THOUGH, FROM THE WEST. 67 IS YOUR OVERNIGHT LOW. WE’RE UP INTO STILL THE LOWER 80S TOMORROW. I DON’T THINK IT’LL BE JUST WET AND GRAY THE ENTIRE DAY. SO WE’LL STILL BE ABLE TO GET OUR TEMPERATURES UP JUST A BIT. THEN THEY WILL DROP INTO THE 70S, THOUGH, FOR MONDAY. BACK TO DRY WEATHER. TUESDAY, PRETTY NICE. TUESDAY, ACTUALLY. BUT THEN WE’RE GOING TO START TO INCH THOSE TEMPERATURES UP NEXT WEEK. ACTUALLY, BY NEXT WEEK. AND THINGS ARE TRENDING HOTTER

Today's sunshine across Iowa will give way to increasing clouds late tonight ahead of more rain.A wave currently in Montana will travel toward us tonight into tomorrow. This wave will help steer a low pressure center & cold front across Iowa Sunday evening, bringing the chance of storms. Before that all arrives, some scattered showers will pop up around sunrise tomorrow. Once that happens, the chance of showers will be with us through much of the day. Between showers, skies will be partly sunny and temperatures will climb back up into the low 80s Sunday afternoon.By 5-7pm, the previously mentioned front will come into western Iowa. This timeframe into Sunday night is our highest chance of storms. A couple stronger storms are possible in southwest Iowa late afternoon/evening, where better energy for storms will be. Meantime, a rotating storm in northwest Iowa can't be ruled out where better wind shear will be.Overall though, severe weather doesn't look likely for most Iowans. The proper instability for powerful storms doesn't look like it'll be there.By Monday, the system will be to our east. On its backside, much of Iowa will get a few more scattered showers and blustery winds. Gusts could exceed 35 mph at times Monday. Temperatures will be limited to the lower 70s.Sunshine is back Tuesday. Temperatures look seasonal next week, before heat builds into the weekend. Watches and Warnings Interactive Radar
