Unsettled weather for some in Iowa Friday night
It was a really fantastic Friday for day two of the Iowa State Fair, with blue skies and warm temperatures this afternoon around the metro.

After the morning rain, where heaviest totals fell on the east side, we are watching more storms develop across southwest Iowa. There hasn’t been anything severe yet, but some of our southernmost counties are included in a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m.
Our northernmost counties are also in a different severe thunderstorm warning until 10 p.m. The main threats with those storms would be hail and wind, but also heavy rain. Rain should miss central Iowa tonight.
Saturday looks very nice with highs back into the mid- to upper-80s. Another wave of energy returns Sunday with a front that will likely set off some showers and thunderstorms across the state, and some may be stronger. Something to keep an eye on for the end of the weekend. A few leftover showers/storms are possible on Monday morning, but then we are drying out with cooler high temperatures on Monday afternoon.
