Thursday marked the kick-off to the 2023 Iowa State Fair.The inaugural day was marked by the Big Ram, the Big Boar and the Super Bull competitions.Here are the winners: Big Ram Contest: "Rascal," owned by Abby Wilson of Shell Rock, 437 pounds.Big Boar Competition: "Sasquatch," shown by Kehrli Farms in Winthrop, 1,012 pounds.Super Bull Competition: "Mean Gene," owned by Jerry Bedwell of New Virginia, 3,060 pounds.
