GOVERNOR KIM REYNOLDS NEXT TUESDAY. THE DEMOCRATS HAD MINNESOTA GOVERNOR TIM WALZ AT THE FAIR TODAY, OUR CHIEF POLITICAL REPORTER, AMANDA ROOKER SPOKE WITH HIM TODAY. AMANDA, HOW DID IT GO? WELL, MARCUS, HE WAS HERE CAMPAIGNING AT THE IOWA STATE FAIR. AND THAT IS A LONG TIME TRADITION IN POLITICS FOR BOTH PARTIES. BUT THIS IS THE FIRST IOWA STATE FAIR SINCE NATIONAL DEMOCRATS VOTED TO BOOT IOWA FROM ITS FIRST IN THE NATION CAUCUS SPOT. NOW PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN DOES NOT PLAN TO VISIT THE IOWA STATE FAIR, BUT MINNESOTA GOVERNOR TIM WALZ TOLD ME HE’S HERE ON BIDEN’S BEHALF, TELLING IOWANS THAT DEMOCRATS ARE STILL FOCUSED ON WINNING THE MIDWEST. AS REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES FLOOD THE STATE FAIR. DEMOCRAT IN MINNESOTA, GOVERNOR TIM WALZ SPENT THE DAY STUMPING FOR PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN WHILE SHAKING HANDS AND MEETING IOWANS. WALZ MET HIS COUSIN, NOW LIVING IN IOWA. I HEARD YOU WERE HERE AND I OH, MY GOD. BUT BEYOND THE UNEXPECTED FAMILY REUNION, WALZ FOCUSED ON TOUTING BIDEN’S RECORD AND PUSHING BACK ON REPUBLICAN POLITICS. WHEN YOU SEE NEARLY A DOZEN REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES FLOCKING TO THE STATE, HAVING FACE TIME WITH IOWANS AND PRESIDENT BIDEN ISN’T HERE, DOES THAT HURT PRESIDENT BIDEN? WELL, I WOULD SAY NOT WITH THEM. THE MORE YOU HEAR THEM, THE MORE YOU DON’T WANT TO VOTE FOR THEM. PRESIDENT TRUMP HAD HIS CHANCE AND HE BLEW THOSE THINGS. HE HURT AGRICULTURE WITH HIS STUPID TRADE WARS. HE UNDERFUNDED WITH ETHANOL, WHICH IS AN IMPORTANT THING THAT WE CARE ABOUT IN THE MIDWEST. AND JUST TELLING FOLKS THIS WALZ’S VISIT COMES A FEW MONTHS AFTER IOWA GOVERNOR KIM REYNOLDS SIGNED NEW LAWS BANNING GENDER TRANSITION PROCEDURES FOR MINORS AND ABORTION AFTER SIX WEEKS OF PREGNANCY. AS MINNESOTA SEEING ANY IMPACT FROM THAT LEGISLATION PASSED IN IOWA. AND WHAT’S THAT IMPACT THAT YOU’RE SEEING? YEAH, WELL, FIRST OF ALL, WE’RE SEEING ABOUT A 20% INCREASE IN A LOT OF THEM ARE FROM IOWA IN INCREASES FOR REPRODUCTIVE SERVICES COMING TO MINNESOTA. IOWA’S ABORTION BAN IS ON HOLD WHILE IT’S BEING CHALLENGED IN COURT, BUT WALZ SAYS THE POLICY PAINTS A CONTRAST TO MINNESOTA, A CONTRAST HE’S HIGHLIGHTING WHILE CAMPAIGNING FOR BIDEN. I WANT TO LET IOWANS KNOW IF YOU SEE THESE FREEDOMS THAT MINNESOTA’S GETTING, OUR CHILDREN GETTING FED US, MOVING TO THE LOWEST CHILDHOOD POVERTY RATES, US BECOMING A TOP FIVE STATE BUSINESS DESTINATION. ARDON. IF YOU WANT THAT, VOTE FOR THESE DEMOCRATS. THAT’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. GET PRESIDENT BIDEN REELECTED. WE’LL MAKE THESE THINGS HAPPEN IN MINNESOTA. GOVERNOR TIM WALZ TOLD ME HE HAS NOT TALKED TO IOWA GOVERNOR KIM REYNOLDS ABOUT THEIR DIFFERENCES IN POLICY. REYNOLDS WAS NOT IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE FOR COMMENT, BUT A SPOKESPERSON FROM HER OFFICE TOLD ME THEY BELIEVE THAT MINNESOTANS ARE FLOCKING TO IOWA. NOW, IN THE PAST, REYNOLDS HAS PRAISED CONSERVATIVE POLICY IN THE STATE, ARGUING THAT IT’S IMPROVED IOWANS QUALITY

As Republican presidential candidates flood the Iowa state fairgrounds, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz traveled to the fair Thursday to stump for President Joe Biden's re-election campaign. Biden does not plan to attend the fair this year. It's the first Iowa State Fair since the Democratic National Committee voted to strip Iowa of its first-in-the-nation caucus status. However, Walz argues Democrats are focused on flipping Iowa blue and winning Midwestern states in the general election. "The way to the White House for Democrats is through the upper Midwest. It's Minnesota. It's Wisconsin. It's Michigan. It's Pennsylvania. And it has always been Iowa until very recently. We're focusing on it. I want Iowa to switch," Walz said. "President Trump had his chance and he blew those things. He hurt agriculture with his stupid trade wars. He underfunded with ethanol which is an important thing that we care about in the Midwest," Walz said. " telling folks...vote on what improves the quality of life for your family and that's clearly with President Biden."
