How you can see presidential candidates at the Iowa State Fair
GEARING UP FOR THOSE VISITS. AMANDA. WELL, STACY, THERE WILL BE MANY OF THEM. THE IOWA STATE FAIR IS TRADITION DELHI, OF COURSE, A MAJOR DRAW FOR PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFULS. IT’S WHERE THEY EAT FRIED FOOD. THEY SHAKE HANDS AND THEY’RE ABLE TO DIRECTLY PITCH THEIR PLATFORM TO IOWA CAUCUS GOERS. RIGHT NOW, REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES HAVE ALMOST FIVE MONTHS TO WIN OVER IOWANS BEFORE THE CAUCUSES. NOW, AS THEY HEAD TO IOWA, THE LATEST NEW YORK TIMES POLL SHOWS FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP STILL SIGNIFICANTLY AHEAD IN IOWA. YOU CAN SEE THERE HE HAS A DOUBLE DIGIT LEAD OVER THE NEXT CLOSEST CANDIDATES. FLORIDA GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS AND SOUTH CAROLINA SENATOR TIM SCOTT. THAT LEAD, THOUGH, IS SLIGHTLY LOWER THAN WHAT A FOX BUSINESS POLL FROM EARLIER LAST MONTH SHOWED THAT FOUND THAT TRUMP AT THAT POINT WAS SLIGHTLY HIGHER AT 46%. TIM SCOTT ALSO HAD A SLIGHTLY HIGHER POLLING AT 14% THEN, BUT DESANTIS HAS GAINED GROUND. THAT EARLIER POLL SHOWED HIM AT 16%. THE MOST RECENT NEW YORK TIMES POLL AT 22% FOR DESANTIS, AS WELL AS A LOT OF THESE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES COME TO THE STATE FAIR, THEY’LL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLAIN THEIR OWN PATH FORWARD TO THE WHITE HOUSE, MANY OF THEM ARGUING WHY THEY BELIEVE THAT THEY’RE THE BEST ALTERNATIVE TO BEAT TRUMP. TRUMP HIMSELF IS NOT SCHEDULED FOR ANY REMARKS AT THE STATE FAIR, LIKE THE DES MOINES REGISTER SOAPBOX AND THE FIRESIDE CHATS WITH IOWA GOVERNOR KIM REYNOLDS. BUT TRUMP WILL MAKE AN APPEARANCE AT THE FAIR SATURDAY, AND TRUMP’S VISIT COMES AS LEGAL ISSUES LOOM OVER THE FORMER PRESIDENT, HIS FIRST APPEARANCE IN IOWA SINCE HE WAS INDICTED FOR EFFORTS TO STAY
