Get the Facts: A poll shows more voters believe the 2020 election was stolen. Is there proof?
Former President Donald Trump has long claimed — without any proof — that the 2020 election was rigged and stolen. And new polling from CNN shows that more than two years later, a growing number of Republicans believe him. The poll shows 69% of Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents view President Joe Biden's win as illegitimate, which is up from 63% earlier this year. But even Trump's own attorney general, lifelong Republican Bill Barr, has repeatedly said the Department of Justice found no evidence of widespread voter fraud that would have changed the outcome of the election. Barr isn't alone. Trump's campaign lawyer, son-in-law and his daughter have also indicated that they knew Trump lost the 2020 election. According to prosecutors, that didn't stop the former president, his co-conspirators, and their agents from making knowingly false claims of substantial voter fraud in certain states. One of those states is Georgia. Our National Investigative Unit looked into these claims over the past two years. "We never found any widespread systemic fraud that would have overturned the outcome of the election," said Brad Raffensperger, Georgia's Secretary of State.Top election officials in other states — regardless of their political party — also told Hearst Television that there was no proof of any widespread fraud that would have changed the results of the 2020 election.Following an investigation of whether Trump tried to overturn the results of the election, special counsel Jack Smith presented an indictment against Trump on Tuesday.See the infographic below:Can't see the graphic?
