Overnight rain and storms in the state
Welcome to August! We have begun the month with humid conditions but below average temperatures.
Rain and thunderstorms will increase in coverage tonight after we get past the midnight hour. The overnight rain chances extend into Central portions of Iowa, but heaviest rain totals will likely setup in Southern Iowa and down into Missouri.

There could be higher amounts across Southern Iowa for any storms that re-develop tomorrow morning over the same area. Training storms will be something to watch for, but flood potential is low across the state.
Tomorrow will feature lots of clouds and not much sun. We will likely see a few more showers/storms during Wednesday daytime hours. Thursday should stay mainly dry with temperatures back to the mid to upper 80s. Storms could return by Friday, there is a little disagreement among the models.
Storms will likely develop on Saturday for at least part of the state. Timing and location to come on that. Humidity does increase and it stays muggy through the rest of the week.
