Trump leadership PAC spends more than $40 million on legal fees amid indictments
With just about six months left until the Iowa caucuses 2024 is heating up and fundraising figures are giving us *** first glimpse of how much money the candidates have and how much their campaigns are raising heading into next year's presidential election. What we know is that Florida, Governor Rod De Santez has raked in over $20 million between April 1st and June 30. Notably, most of that coming from big dollar donations. De Santez is also burning *** lot of cash. His campaign has spent about percent of what it raised in the quarter as he slumps in the polls. Comparatively Trump who leads significantly in polling has raised $18 million in the same quarter. Most of which was transferred from another committee that won't report its figures until later this month. Meanwhile, incumbent President Joe Biden raising around $20 million this quarter. However, he has the benefit of working hand in hand with the Democratic National Committee and its fundraisers which collectively report having raised *** combined $72 million since Biden launched his re election bid in April. While that is arguably *** strong performance. Biden's numbers are notably behind both former President Trump and former President Obama during the same period of their respective campaigns for *** second term in 2011 and 2019. Just to give you some perspective. Meanwhile, as fundraising numbers put Trump and De Santez in their own tier, we also have numbers for other Republicans looking to challenge the. Vivek Ramaswami raised $7.7 million. This quarter, Tim Scott, $5.9 million. Nikki Haley's campaign raised $5.3 million. And former vice president Mike Pence who joined the race in June raised only $1.2 million for his campaign. It's important to note these figures disclosed by the federal election commission. Don't give us the full picture just yet. Super pacs external groups and fundraising committees that are contributing to presidential hopefuls don't fully disclose their contributions until July 31st. That's when we can get an even better idea of where the candidates stand plus while having millions of dollars in the war chest is seen as critical to *** shot at victory. GOP. Candidates also have to show that they have at least 40,000 unique donors in order to make it to the stage for the first GOP presidential primary debate that is scheduled for August 23rd.

Former President Donald Trump’s political action committee, Save America, has spent more than $40 million on legal fees since the start of this year, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.The PAC, which raises most of its funds through small-dollar donations from Trump’s supporters, is expected to report to the Federal Election Commission on Monday that it spent $40.2 million on legal costs in the first half of the year – more than double the amount the group spent on legal fees in all of 2022.Save America spent over $16 million on legal costs in 2022, according to Federal Election Commission records. The new fund, first reported by The New York Times, is expected to cover the bills of some of Trump’s current and former aides and employees who have been wrapped up in various investigations into the former president. It will be called the Patriot Legal Defense Fund Inc., according to the sources, and will be led by Trump associate and adviser Michael Glassner.Special counsel Jack Smith brought new charges on Thursday against Trump, his aide Walt Nauta and a third defendant, Carlos De Oliveira, in the case alleging Trump mishandled classified documents after leaving the White House.The charges included allegations that Trump and his employees attempted to delete Mar-a-Lago security footage sought by the grand jury. Both Nauta and De Oliveira are being represented by attorneys paid for by Trump’s operation.The former president was also indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on more than 30 counts related to business fraud in March and faces potential charges in the special counsel’s January 6 grand jury investigation, as well as an investigation by the Fulton County District Attorney’s office in Georgia relating to claims of voter fraud after the 2020 election. Trump has expanded his legal team as his legal challenges grow.
