This was the first time Former President Donald Trump appeared alongside his Republican competitors.

STACEY, THANKS, ANNE. 13 REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES MADE A DIRECT PITCH TO MORE THAN 1000 IOWANS IN DES MOINES TONIGHT. KCCI CHIEF POLITICAL REPORTER AMANDA ROOKER IS AT THE IOWA EVENTS CENTER IN DOWNTOWN DES MOINES WHERE THE LINCOLN DINNER JUST WRAPPED UP. AMANDA JOINS US WITH THE BIGGEST MOMENTS FROM EVERY CANDIDATE, AMANDA. STACY, THAT EVENT JUST WRAPPED UP. YOU CAN SEE THE ROOM IS EMPTY BEHIND ME, BUT EARLIER TODAY, IT WAS FILLED, AS YOU MENTIONED, WITH MORE THAN 1000 IOWANS. AND THIS CAMPAIGN EVENT TONIGHT WAS ACTUALLY THE FIRST TIME THAT FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP APPEARED ALONGSIDE HIS REPUBLICAN COMPETITORS AT A CAMPAIGN EVENT. AND THOSE OTHER CANDIDATES HAD PLENTY TO SAY ABOUT TRUMP DURING THEIR SPEECHES TONIGHT. ONE CANDIDATE PRAISED TRUMP. OTHERS, LIKE PENCE AND DESANTIS, DIDN’T MENTION TRUMP BY NAME, BUT TALKED ABOUT A NEED FOR NEW REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP. BUT BY FAR, ONE OF THE MOST EMOTIONAL MOMENTS OF THE NIGHT WAS WHEN ONE CANDIDATE WILL HEARD ATTACKED TRUMP AND WAS ACTUALLY BOOED OFF THE STAGE. TAKE A LISTEN. DONALD TRUMP IS NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT TO REPRESENT THE PEOPLE THAT VOTED FOR HIM IN 2016 AND 2020. DON TRUMP IS RUNNING TO STAY OUT OF PRISON. AND IF WE ELECT WE’RE NOT GETTING A MULLIGAN ON 2024, THE TIME FOR EXCUSES IS OVER, FOR WE MUST GET THE JOB DONE. I WILL GET THE JOB DONE. DIFFERENT TIMES CALLS FOR DIFFERENT LEADERSHIP TO DEFEAT JOE BIDEN. I BELIEVE WE MUST GIVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NEW REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP. JOE BIDEN FLEW IN AND SAID, LARRY ELDER IS THE CLOSEST THING TO A DONALD TRUMP CLONE AS I’VE EVER SEEN. NOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO BE INSULTED OR FLATTERED TO THAT CHARGE? I PLEAD GUILTY. NOW, FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP ALSO TOOK THE STAGE AND HE WAS ALSO ON THE OFFENSE. HE TOOK TIME TO CRITICIZE RON DESANTIS TONIGHT, FIRST CRITICIZING RON DESANTIS OVER ETHANOL AND IOWA’S ETHANOL INDUSTRY. BUT HE ALSO PUNCHED ON DESANTIS OVER ELECTABLE DOW CITY IN OTHER POLLS. I’M LEADING BIDEN BY SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT AND 11 POINTS, WHILE DESANTIS IS LOSING TO BIDEN. IN ALL CASES, I WOULDN’T TAKE A CHANCE ON THAT ONE. NOW, AS STACEY MENTIONED, THERE WERE 13 CANDIDATES ON THE STAGE TONIGHT. MANY OF THEM PITCHING TO IOWA’S CONSERVATIVE AUDIENCE ON CULTURE WAR ISSUES LIKE EDUCATION, LGBTQ ISSUES AND ABORTION. TAKE A LISTEN. THAT IS WHAT WE ARE DOING IN THIS CAMPAIGN WHEN WE SPEAK THAT TRUTH, WHEN WE SPEAK IT WITHOUT APOLOGY, GOD IS REAL. THERE ARE TWO GENDERS. AND IF YOU COMMIT A VIOLENT CRIME, YOU DO GO TO JAIL. AND IF GOD MADE YOU A MAN, THEN YOU PLAY SPORTS AGAINST MEN. THESE ARE SIMPLE COMMON SENSE. IN ARKANSAS, I SIGNED OVER 30 PRO-LIFE BILLS. ARKANSAS WAS KNOWN AS THE NUMBER ONE PRO-LIFE STATE IN THE NATION. I DID THAT AS GOVERNOR. AND LET ME TELL YOU, IF I’M PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, I WILL BE A PRO-LIFE PRESIDENT. LET’S MAKE SURE OUR KIDS CAN READ BY THE THIRD GRADE. LET’S HAVE COMPLETE TRANSPARENCY IN THE CLASSROOM AND LET’S LET PARENTS DECIDE WHERE THEIR KIDS SHOULD GO TO SCHOOL. YOU CAN SEE IT THERE WERE ALSO SEVERAL CANDIDATES THAT SPOKE TONIGHT THAT HAVE NOT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK TO LARGE CROWDS OF THOUSANDS OF IOWANS BEFORE. AND THEIR FOCUS TONIGHT WAS REALLY ON INTRODUCING THEMSELVES TO IOWANS. AS I’M RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT, TO TO IMPROVE EVERY AMERICAN LIFE, TO UNLOCK THE BEST OF AMERICA. THAT’S OUR MISSION. HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO THAT? WE’RE GOING TO PROVE EVERY AMERICAN LIFE BY FOCUSING ON THE ECONOMY, ON ENERGY, AND ON NATIONAL SECURITY. MY HOPE IS THAT I CAN CONVINCE YOU THAT I AM THE BEST PERSON TO LEAD THIS COUNTRY. THIS IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY ON THE PLANET, AND WE SHOULD NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR IT. WOW. THIS IS A COUNTRY UNLIKE ANY COUNTRY IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD. AND BY GOLLY, WE’RE GOING TO KEEP IT THAT WAY. WE ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO BE THE GREATEST COUNTRY. THE LORD WANTED ME TO SPEAK TO YOU ABOUT THE DESTINY OF OUR COUNTRY AND SOME THINGS THAT HE HAS BEEN SAYING. AND IT’S PRETTY SIMPLE. IT’S TIME FOR AMERICA TO TO HAVE AN ECONOMIC REVIVAL. AND IT’S TIME FOR AMERICA TO HAVE A SPIRITUAL REVIVAL. AND THE TIME FOR THAT IS NOW. AND THAT IS NOT THE LAST TIME THAT YOU’RE LIKELY TO SEE MOST OF THOSE CANDIDATES, IF NOT ALL OF THEM IN IOWA. MOST OF THEM WILL BE BACK IN OUR STATE NEXT MONTH FOR THE IOWA STATE FAIR. FOR NOW, LIVE IN D
