OK, the Saints start training camp practices this week. So football will dominate the sports conversation very soon. But we have so many great sports stories in the New Orleans area about athletes from other sports sports anchor Fletcher Mackel joins us at four to talk more about *** young man who's becoming an inspiration to everyone. Fletcher. Yeah. Had *** lot of fun doing this story. I had *** chance to meet *** 16 year old wrestler whose name tells you *** lot about him. Noah Confident is *** rising star for the brother Martin Crusaders whose quiet confidence shines through in everything he does. The brother Martin Crusaders are *** powerhouse wrestling program and one of their up and coming young stars is 16 year old Noah. Confident. Second I started, I just, I had *** love towards it of how free I was. But when he was growing up in New Orleans, East Noah was *** prisoner of perception. People said he couldn't compete in sports. The reason I have never coached uh *** wrestler with one leg. That's right. Noah was born without *** right leg as *** kid. I used to have *** prosthetic leg. And it was no more. No one ever said anything about it. And then, uh, when I got older I just got tired of prosthetic. So I just switched over to countries and it felt more natural and, uh, it's just been like that. But wrestling head coach Andrew Nicola saw past the crutches, he saw an elite athlete. The second I came into Martin was like, uh, you should come wrestle and I was like, uh can't you see, I have one leg and he was like, so what? So I just gave it *** shot and I ended up staying with it. His strength is unparalleled. Uh His, his one leg is *** tree trunk. It's, it is very strong. Uh His grip is strong. His upper body is for every he, I think he's got some of that naturally, but also he lives hard and um and his body is, he's *** strong kid. Opponents who once looked at Noah is an easy mark on the mad are starting to see that strength. It's pretty funny when people underestimate me. Uh and then they like, get on the mat and like find out and just the look on their face when I win. I guess it's pretty funny competing in the £113 division confident is now just one of the guys he doesn't want to be treated different. And I probably did at first just knowing like, hey, we're going on *** three mile run. He's the first in line. He may not finish first but he will crutch and hop that entire three miles. He doesn't, he doesn't skip anything. He's here for everything and everything includes being an inspiration. Yeah, I really like the fat that I have one leg in *** way cause I could inspire other people to encourage themselves to do better. You're going to be an inspiration to people, whether you like it or not, they are going to be people that see you do this and say, well, if he can do it with one leg, why, why can't I? So I think he's picking up on that *** little bit that he's got an impact, *** positive impact in *** lot of ways. But one question remains, what kind of impact will Noah have on brother Martin by the time he graduates in my heart? I believe that if he keeps at this pace, he will be an HS *** state champion by the time he graduates from brother Martin. Now, both Noah and coach Nicola say they've studied former wrestling champion, Anthony Robles. He was also born with just one leg and he went on to become an NCAA *** champion at Arizona State University again, he wrestles in the £113 division. Coach tells me that he lost his first two matches. He's gotten so good that last year he was named the outstanding wrestler at several of the tournaments that brother Martin was in and brother Martin is really good. They've got 21 state championships. So you have to be pretty good to be *** special player on that, that team. Awesome. What *** great story. Amazing. He's such an inspiration. Fletcher.
