Johnston earned its shot at a repeat, while Ames continued its storybook season. Thursday in Iowa City, defending champion Johnston blasted Dowling 9-4. The mighty Dragons led 7-0 before Dowling scored its first run. BOX SCOREIn the second semifinal game, Ames took a 4-1 lead over Cedar Falls in to the 7th inning. Cedar Falls scored twice in the 7th, but Ames held on, for the 4-3 win. Ames faces Johnston Friday at 7:30 p.m. Friday night in Iowa City in the championship game.
