ANOTHER SEMIFINAL ROUND WILL BE HELD COMING UP ON THURSDAY. A BIG NAME IN CLASSIC ROCK IS HEADLINING A RAGBRAI CONCERT SERIES RIGHT HERE IN THE METRO. LEONARD SKYNYRD WILL BE PLAYING WHEN RIDERS STAY OVERNIGHT IN DES MOINES, JULY 26TH. THAT CONCERT SERIES ALSO INCLUDES HAIRBALL, FOGHAT AND BUSH, AMONG OTHERS. DES MOINES HAS BEEN GETTING READY FOR THE REGISTER’S ANNUAL GREAT BIKE RIDE ACROSS IOWA TO COME BACK FOR THE LAST TEN YEARS, SINCE THE LAST TIME IT CAME THROUGH. The 50th RAGBRAI will bring a free concert series that features rock bands of the classic, hair and alternative varieties. RAGBRAI 2023 runs July 22-29, from Sioux City to Davenport, with overnight stops in Storm Lake, Carroll, Ames, Des Moines, Tama-Toeldo and Coralville in between. Organizers are hoping to set a new world record for the largest bicycle parade ever on July 26 when riders make the 50-mile trek from Ames to Des Moines. The current record is 48,615 riders set in Italy on July 11, 2000.
