On Monday night, City Council Members voted to approve an agreement to improve traffic safety measures on East University Avenue near several schools.The stretch of University Avenue from East 14th Street to Easton Boulevard will be affected by the agreement. It's between that stretch where 14-year-old East High School student Ema Cardenas was hit and killed by a car in April 2022. The city plans to reduce the number of travel lanes and add stoplights for pedestrians. City Council members already voted to extend the school zone in the area and reduce the speed limit.

On Monday night, City Council Members voted to approve an agreement to improve traffic safety measures on East University Avenue near several schools.
