Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was in Des Moines Friday night at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, where he shared the stage with Gov. Kim Reynolds in front of a crowd.
Des Moines was the Florida governor's second stop in Iowa on Friday. He started his day in Davenport.
Friday marked DeSantis's first time in Iowa. This visit comes ahead of an expected presidential campaign announcement later this year.
Reynolds introduced DeSantis after sharing how they first met, similarities in their time as the heads of their states, and what he has accomplished.
While DeSantis did not make an announcement about a bid for presidency, he did touch on his career. He shared highlights including how he handled COVID-19, the aftermath following the disaster Hurricane Ian left in its wake in 2022, and discussing legislation passed in Florida with values similar to bills moving through Iowa's statehouse.
"I just think parents in Florida, in Iowa, throughout the country should be able to send their kids to school, have them watch cartoons, just be kids without having someone's agenda shoved down their throats," DeSantis said during his stop on Friday.
