New program in Missouri connects senior dogs with those in senior living centers
A new program in Missouri is trying to connect individuals living in a senior facility with dogs who are in a similar stage of life. Care Haven Homes, a senior living facility in Leawood, right outside downtown Kansas City, came up with the idea to adopt a senior dog for their facility. “It’s just worked out wonderfully," said Deanna Holm from Care Haven. "It helps our dementia patients…they love having her here.”The facility's lucky dog is named Meg. Meg is an 8-year-old lab mix who loves treats. She's had a rough go of it recently, but now things are starting to look up for her.She gets to enjoy exploring a huge backyard and looking out big windows in the house. It’s the perfect retirement situation for the older lab. Meg was adopted from Always and Furever in Spring Hill.
