Child killed in Pella sledding accident identified
The young child involved in a deadly sledding accident in Pella has been identified.Pella police say 5-year-old Milly Rose Zellmer was killed when her sled entered the roadway and was hit by a truck.The tragedy happened at the intersection of West Fourth Street and Fountain View Drive on Thursday.She was sledding down a hill on Pella’s north side before she slid under a Ford truck owned by a man who lives in the same neighborhood, according to police.A witness drove Zellmer to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. No charges have been filed in the case.Zellmer was attending preschool in Pella.In her obituary, family described Zellmer as a "spunky, blue eyed, sweet little dimpled, five-year-old darling." She was active, loved sports and reading, according to family.A celebration of life will be held this weekend for Zellmer. Visitation for Milly Rose Zellmer takes place Friday from 3-6 p.m. at the Third Church in Pella. Her celebration of life takes place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the same church.
