A former train station houses a Kansas City BBQ restaurant
The self-proclaimed "Best BBQ in Kansas City" is actually located 30 minutes outside of Kansas City.
Around 1927, the Wabash train station was the welcome center for people coming into Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
Seventy years later, the building was repurposed to house Wabash BBQ, which serves classic Kansas City-style BBQ.
Their smoker can cook five full cases of brisket every day. But that's not all — they make pulled pork, burnt ends, sausage, ham, turkey and smoked chicken.
Smokehouse cook Don Lang says the secret to perfect BBQ is dry rub seasoning.
"Is it my favorite BBQ? Well, of course, it's always my favorite BBQ," Lang said.
And there's not just great food at Wabash BBQ. When the weather is nice, the restaurant has an outdoor Blues garden with a beer tent.
"Well, hopefully, when you come here, we want you to leave with a belly full and maybe some Bluesy atmosphere going on in your head and some of the best barbeque in Kansas City," manager Eric Ryan said.
