This Month In History: Serial killer Alton Coleman captured in 1984
On July 20, 1984, Alton Coleman was arrested after a multi-state killing spree.
Eight dead bodies were found across the states of Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
Most of the victims were young women and officials said several of them had been sexually assaulted.
Coleman was accompanied by Debra Brown during his crime spree. They were arrested in Evanston, Illinois, and both were sentenced to death.
Coleman received four death sentences: Two from Ohio and one each from Illinois and Indiana.
On April 26, 2002, Coleman was executed by lethal injection in Ohio.
Brown had her death sentence commuted to life imprisonment in 1991.
She is serving her sentence, without the possibility of parole, in Ohio.
