and many think of yodeling images of the swiss, alps and snow come to mind. But those who took part in the 1993 state fair yodeling championships had no such luck today. It was just plain hot hot inside Pioneer Hall. And the competition was hot too. Taking first prize for the third year in a row, 10 year old Nicky joe roof of waterloo. Who says she's been io link since she was all of three years old. But her unusual talent was discovered long before that. Well, when I was 18 months old, my mother found out that I could crack my voice and that's the beginning to yodel. So from then on, she pursued my career and that's how I came here after the toddlers were through. It was time for the whistlers to take the stage and you know how to whistle. All you have to do is put your lips together and blow very few whistler's can blow like 1993 state adult champion, 75 year old jean Hinkle of belle. Plain Gene has been whistling for 70 years. He and his professional pucker performed around the globe during World War Two, and jean says his well tuned tongue was also a featured attraction in Ripley's, believe it or not at the 1933 World's Fair. Well, you get low tones like that by cupping it and you get the troubles by rolling it.
